Mental health during pregnancy

Pregnancy is a blessing and a beautiful phase on a woman's life but for some women pregnancy can be very stressful. A woman goes through lots of emotional, physical and hormonal changes.  
She needs love, care and support.  Some women do not get the required support and as a result they suffer from depression. 

Pregnant women should also keep a look out for the signs which can lead to depression.
A pregnant woman should seek professional help.

  • Negative thoughts which effect you day to day functions and mobility.
  • Don't feel like getting out of the bed for days.
  • Get cold sweats, panic attacks and anxiety.
  • You either eat too  much or don't eat at all.
  • You have mood swings and you snap at people.
Tips for managing mental well being :

Seek help:
One should realize that it's not wrong to ask for help. If you feel any one of the above symptoms, reach out to your family and friends for help. Talk to them, and if need get medical help. 

Prioritize yourself:
Most of the times, women multitask and do not think about themselves. It is very important to take care of oneself especially during pregnancy. It is important for a pregnant woman to get adequate rest and nutrition.

Pamper yourself:
Pregnancy is the time to indulge and do things which you otherwise wouldn't have done. Get massages, spas m pedicure and manicure done. This will make you feel good and will also rejuvenate you.

Take out time for a hobby:
Take out at least 30 minutes a day for a hobby. It could be as simple as reading books or listening to music.

Don't compare yourself to other pregnant women:
Each pregnancy is different and each body is different. Do not compare yourself to other pregnant women. Concentrate on yourself and listen to your doctor's advise.

Try to attend antenatal classes:
Take out some time and attend antenatal classes . You will learn different breathing exercises and also they have Councillors who will help you clear all pregnancy related queries.
